Japanese Sup
What kind of sup strats is Japan good with? FF? Rush? FI even? I noticed they don't hunt and also start with orchard farms. Should Japan focus on orchards or berries first? What is standard build order and card order for Japan in age 1? How many vills does Japan age up with normally? Any good links? EDIT: Also, that fat guy over there is slightly off. If you look at the spirally things on the corners of the picture, the right side lines up, but the left side is sort of off. And they're discolored. Why is it a fat guy anyway? Shouldn't it be a Muskeeter or something?

Re: Japanese Sup
FF and FI in 3v3 quite strong , plus you can still make shrine boom while doing FF They have consulate rush, daimyo in age 2 acts like a mobile barrack+stable, and he even boosts the attack Orchard and berries the same...if you see berries are a bit far from TC, use orchard. Otherwise...use the orchard to explore Standard build order: -If 300 wood, make consulate, gather 6 wood. If 200 wood, gather 106 more -Ally with Port -Make shrine -Send heavenly karni -Find wood treasures
If you focus on FF-ing, keep allying with Port till you have max shrines (75 wood each shrine) and send 7 besterios when you have 400 export. If you tent to fight in age 2, change ally to Japanese ally

http://www.rts-sanctuary.com/The-Asian-Dynasties/showtopic=195523 Read, watch the recs, and learn. There are many replays of Japanese vs X. Watch them and learn from them, just watch pr 34+ replays, or the expert replays. But until you do all of that, I wanna tell you the basics: First of all, bear in mind that Japanese gather from bushes faster than any other civ. Doesn't matter if it's a berry bush or if it's a bush which cherry orchard builds. However, your fishing boats gather from fish as fast as any other fishing boats. 3 fishing boats are kinda equal to 2 villagers at gathering. When to age up and with how man vills? - Now you don't need to have timings for that, neither you need to make a certain amount of villagers and then age up. You don't stop producing vills. You don't "age up", you build a wonder to advance into the next age, it can be done by selecting a villager and building the wonder, wonders are like politicians. 4 villagers are enough to have on wonder to match the advancing time to europian advancing time (1:30 min from age I to age II). But vs turtle civs it's safe to build it with 1 villager to spare working time, like vs China or maybe Germans or Japanese themselves. Shrines: Imagine, a big factory, split into pieces called "shrines", when you build all of them you will get a huge factory, so what do we get? A factory in age 2, you can't build all of the shrines in age 1, of course you can build them any time, but it's almost better than villagers, I mean it just generates resources... factory is always better than villagers. Also, bear in mind that if you build shrines at animals it will attract them and it will be impossible to kill or eat those animals unless the shrine is destroyed, the shrine generates more resource if there are animals on it, bigger animal is - more resources it generates. Maps like Yukon, where there are no bushes and few hunt is terrible for Japan, you can only gather from bushes and mills (rice-fields). On some maps you might start with extra orchard wagon which is great. By the way, there is a wonder called Toshogu Shrine, it is also a shrine so keep the closest hunt for it, build that wonder close to that hunt and build the small shrines far away, block enemy's hunts or something... Japanese are the best at boom. They can rush pretty well, but they are just a bit slower than some civs. Their units are really strong, even skirmisher-type units are having trouble dealing with Japanese musketeers. FF is also a case, but Japanese are too slow at it, so it doesn't worth doing that vs civs like Ottomans or French, try doing that vs China or Spain, they might FF as well, but Spain will mostly rush. Don't lose your explorers, they have to build the shrines, so losing your explorers is like losing the game. If you want to learn old Japanese play style look for old replays, if you like the strategy that H2O uses nowadays (the one which I gave you the link of) I can help you with that, I use that strategy myself and I find it better than going rush style which makes me cry when I see people still doing that, but it works sometimes, but it doesn't work better than H2O's strategy.
It's not whether you win or lose, it's how you play the game.

Re: Japanese Sup
Played a Private online just now with the japs (that's not racist is it?) and won. But he milled in age 1 (supremacy) and I was well into fortress when he hit age 2. Could have aged up sooner if I knew japs aged at 680 (???) food, or at least I think thats the number I saw.
It was 300w start so I made shrine and consulate, aged up with 14 vills (this included a card from HC), and I did not even realize I could have still been making vills! Anyway, I aged up, sent 3 samurai card twice, pumped out ashigaru, sent 3 naginata riders, and attacked him when he hit age 2. I allied with ports at the consulate, but I didn't really know wtf I was doing. I didn't touch the consulate for the rest of the 13 minute game. So what's the consulate do exactly and what is something I can use on it in the future?
