Note that the recording above is an old one and my boom has changed (and hopefully improved) somewhat, I watched it again and here is the commentary I wrote down:
Note that I don't do anything fancy with the Crates or ''save time'' by ringing settlers into and out of the TC -- they just gather the crates then are sent to food.
Note that one ...

This boom assumes no wood or gold trade. If you have a trade then modify the boom accordingly.
I've been playing Germany more lately in 55s and I notice that much of their power is dependent on 1. a good boom and 2. sufficient deletion of villagers in order to have an overwhelming army. Germany has slow cannon train but six or so ...

Not gathering enough wood is the prime failing of the new player boom.
In boom score contests I used to whore the fur trade a bit for score seeing if I could get above 3000 points; however, in a real game, especially a 1v1, you will need considerably more wood.
Remember that with the Church tech your buildings will cost 50% more and ...

This problem occurs when a fast-spam civ (France or Russia) is in the game if there is the slightest lag. I believe that if too many units are produced and/or moved in too short a time then the game has to ''catch up'' on its processing. Metis is not that obscure if you read Hesiod, Homer and other early Greek mythology. As one of the ancient gods, Metis was more of an idea than a personification. Metis can be found in the wisdom of Zeus and also the cunning of Odysseus. In fact, ''metis'' in ancient Greek means something like clever wisdom. If someone was wise ...

Sicunder:
different rates - i had no idea- aoe2 women did look like they carried less meat
AOE 1 once had males better at hunting and females better at gathering, which reflects actual history. However, somewhere along the line this was deemed non-politically correct and so every villager then was made to gather equally on all things.
