Try running the installation/game as administrator and/or in compatibility mode. You can find the 'run as administrator' and/or compatibility mode via the right click function whether it be in the menu and/or properties.

I just thought I would mention that although you may be installing the game under your 'admin account' you are not however installing it under an absolute administrator. To do this, you would have to right click and click on ''Run as administrator'' for whatever program you wish to run/play.

By the way, I have not tried it personally but based on a comment at the bottom it works so yeah give it a go.

Based on the information that you have provided I'm going to make a number of assumptions:
1) You at least have a graphics card that meets the minimal requirements of the game
1.1) You have the latest graphics drivers and have changed all necessary settings in Control Panel for your graphics card

It appears you haven't specified what OS you are trying to install AOE3 on. If it is Vista, try installing it as Administrator ('Run as administrator' option) and/or in compatibility mode ('Windows XP' option).
Also, a AOE3 disc cannot be missing a file because it can't be manually deleted from the disc. The only way for it to be missing a file ...

I believe it doesn't matter what order they are installed in to get ''all [the] races''. However, just in case, install Warchiefs first then Asian Dynasties. Also, don't forget to install patches .

Well if you don't have access to any settings in your modem then you must have one strange modem cause I can access settings simply by typing in the IP address of my modem into IE7 and filling out login information.
Simply turning off firewalls may not always work. You sometimes have to open ports and allow IP addresses both in third party ...

Well I don't think you have mentioned if you have done some important troubleshooting steps so I'll suggest them to you.
1) Check firewalls on both the host computer and the modem to ensure full two-way access is allowed. Also, check that the game isn't restricted in the modem itself (relates to step 2).
