i didnt see much about countering a boom....
the best counter to an ff IMO is a boom with either fish, british houses, or laming japan.
FF i find is best agianst a medium rush (if they are a slow starting civ, or dont do a strong rush), and excellent agaisnt a turtler.

i find they are almost more a counter to certain civs than units. because they are very good vs archers who can't hit and run. civs that rely on RI and don't have muskets, (like china, aztec, sioux, and to some degree german.) have a hard time beating them since they can beat RI in hand to hand.

how would spain be one of the worst civs for lower players? they seem so simple, ff send shipments, 1 strat almost always fits the situation.
spain is easier than british dutch and portugal IMO.
