whats the purpose of defragmenting your hard drive?

Using Mr.Maro's method i have gotten AOE3 working, but will this mean i can no longer play WarChiefs, as whenever i try installing, it tells me that Age of Empires III is not installed, this setup will exit.
is this the same problem for TAD as well?

when i was copying AOE to my hard drive. it said cannont copy 00002:cannont read from the source file or disk
anyone know if that can be fixed?

i would stick with germans.. cheaper banner armies is really good for rush games when eco isnt great yet and of course who wouldnt want resource trickles. plus a blockhouse and fort are not that needed
