unless both sides are somewhat OP, japs+french vs russians+jap/french sounds fun
but really, so what if it's OP, i'd rather play any civ/any lvl instead of sitting around for hours waiting for a game. it seems like the higher u get, the more u'll dislike losing, newcomers will play like there's no tomorrow.

u have the right to pick what u like/dislike, if they dont like it, then just go make their own room, why waste the time arguing about an ongoing issue

did u get all the eco cards? advanced plantation would be helpful since they cost a crap load of wood to build, to save wood some ppl use land grab as well but that really up to u
and of course, u cant miss those factories, forget about forts those are just junk

locate your aoe3 shortcut, right click and select properties, you'll see the ''compatibility'' tab, check the ''Run this program in compatibility mode for'' box, and choose windows xp from the dropdown list

unless im wrong but seems like he's on vista, maybe try setting compatibility to xp will help, lots of other games that had issues with vista were fixed with this so worth a shot, at least better than going in circles

only someone who has an expansion might be able to help you, since they dont need aoe3 disc1 to boot the game anymore
